Teopesa / Description

Welcome to Teopesa!

Please get comfortable and let us tell you about the Estonian handicrafts website Teopesa.

Many people have expressed the wish to buy the work of well-known Estonian handicraftsmen on the Internet. Teopesa is the first e-shop to offer this opportunity. Authentic Estonian handicrafts bear the cultural legacy of the local people – supporting these helps to preserve the traditional skills and the special "it" that make us Northerners unique.

The E-shop products are made by masters whose handicrafts we especially value for their quality, originality or special character. We also make sure that national handicrafts find a home at Teopesa, because we value our local roots and ancient Estonian handicraft traditions. Our aim is to become a place where people can conveniently buy national costumes in the future. We have taken a step towards this goal by offering fabric for national striped skirts. Handicrafts will never be lost when the skills are passed on to young people – we also present younger handicraftsmen and designers. The selection of our products is ever increasing as more of the best masters join us with their work.

According to an ancient Estonian tale there used to live an old and skilful handicraftsman and smith with the name Ilmarine. Indeed, he was so skilful that he started perfecting on the creation of the Grandfather. He took a piece of silver, moulded it into a big round egg, covered it with gold, put a light in it and made it circle the skies. This is how the Sun was created. As time passed people started worrying about another great thing – they could not find things in the world that were full of soul. Ilmarine had no choice but to use his sledgehammer and build Teopesa, grow the flame and then push it onto the oceans of the Internet. This is how Teopesa came to be the nest for masterful handicrafts.

We hope that you find your way back to Teopesa again and again – we are always open here.

Sincerely,

Kristel Kalda
