Kuidas valida värvitooni?

Valged ja heledad toonid on kõige kindlam valik, sest need muutuvad kõige vähem erineva valguse käes. Samas on valgel ja pastelsel toonil omadus mõjutada teisi toone. Mööbel ja toa sisustus mõjutab seinavärvi tooni tunnetust. Seepärast on alati tõesem valida värvitooni möbleeritud, mitte tühjas toas. Kui tahad kasutada tugevaid, tumedaid toone, katseta esmalt tooni sobivust näiteks väiksema kartongitüki peal. Seejärel vaata tooni seina taustal ja erineva valgusega, et saaksid tõese ettekujutuse värvitoonist. Rohekas-hallid ja traditsioonilised (mõisades, antiik) toonid muudavad eriti suures skaalas tooni nii kunst- kui ka loomuliku valguse mõjul. Tuba saab teadlikult erineva valgustusega muuta soovitud suunas. Näiteks magamistuba muutub romantilisemaks kasutades punakat lambipirni lambis. Erivalgustus ei ole siiski soovitav vannitoas, kus loomulik valgus on vajalik habeme-ajamiseks.
