Interior design products with national patterns from the Printstone print studio

Tallinn, 24th August 2009

Beginning in the middle of August, it will be possible to order interior design
products with Estonian national patterns from the print studio Printstone. At the
moment, there are 6 different skirt and apron patterns available in the ETNO line.
All products are made in Estonia and each product is manufactured according to
the measurements submitted by the customer.

The patterns and embroideries of Estonian folk costumes are unique and deserve greater
attention and use in everyday life. Now, it is possible for all those who are interested to decorate
their homes with the patterns of Estonian folk costumes, whether in the form of wallpapers, roller
blinds, the wall behind the kitchen work surface, or some other interior design product.

“The idea of a line based on national patterns has been prepared well in advance,” said
Rael Medvedeva, the manager of Printstone. “Collecting patterns and studying folk costumes has
been a very time-consuming process. This process will probably never end, because the legacy
of our ancestors is so interesting and multifaceted. We received the inspiration for studying and
promoting Estonia’s own ethnic theme from the activities of recent years: the Night Song Festival
“Märkamisaeg”, the 90th Anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, Year of Innovation. We have also
been encouraged by other people who hold the same views and use Estonian national patterns on
their products, for example, the creators of national footwear.”

Medvedeva also added: “Ethnic and antique furniture and interior design elements are not a new
phenomena in our interior design, as over the last 5 years ethnic elements have been brought in
from distant countries like India, Ethiopia, etc. We, however, want to show that our history is also
full of interesting symbols, patterns and possibilities for using them. The ETNO theme is suitable
in a modern home as well as in a log house.”

At the moment, Printstone offers skirt and apron patterns from Kadrina, Kihnu, Kuusalu and
Rõuge. The selection of patterns and belt embroideries is constantly supplemented. All who are
interested can turn to Printstone with their own personal requests for folk costumes and patterns.

In the production of the interior design products of the ETNO line, contemporary materials are
used: PVC wallpaper, different fabrics, acrylic glass, photo stickers, and inks that are safe for the
environment and people.

Printstone design and print studio focuses on different interior design solutions. We produce
large-scale pictures on photo paper, kappa, PVC, and different canvases; photo wallpaper, roller
blinds, ceiling tiles, ornaments for glass surfaces, furniture and walls, and wall pictures behind
kitchen work surfaces. It is possible to order products using the customer’s own photos or to
choose a suitable picture from the Printstone photo bank.
