ESLi raamatukogu on avatud
Eesti Sisearhitektide Liidul on hea meel teatada, et nende raamatukogu hakkab tasapisi ilmet võtma. Teavet raamatukogu täienduste kohta hakatakse jagama jooksvalt, aga seni oodatakse kõiki tutvuma alljärgnevate raamatute ja ajakirjade viimaste numbritega.
Analüüsides kümmet hoone näidet, selgitab antud raamat funktsiooni tähtsust arhitektuuris. Tuues näidetena välja tuttavad 20. sajandi hooned, esitlevad autorid neid uuest vaatenurgast, mis põhineb nende funktsionaalse disaini kontseptsioonil.
/.../ Here Grabow and Spreckelmeyer expand the definition of human use to that of an art form by re-evaluating these buildings from an aesthetic and ecological view of function. Each building is described from the point of view of a major functional concept or idea of human use which then spreads out and influences the spatial organization, built form and structure. Kõik kunstilised ja arhitektuurilised mõjud on esile tõstetud, vahendatud ja kogetud läbi poeetiliste piltide. Kunstilistel piltidel on oma elu ja reaalsus ja need arenevad pigem läbi ootamatute assotsatsioonide, kui ratsionaalse loogika.
Arhitektuuri analüüsitakse ja õpetatakse tavaliselt distsipliinina, kus ühendatakse omavahel ruum ja geomeetria, kuid arhitektuuri vaimne mõju tõstab märgatavalt esile selle pildikvaliteeti, mis ühendab selle kogemuse erinevad aspektid ja mõõtmed ühte meeldejäävasse olemusvormi.
Antud raamat on jaotatud viieks põhiosaks, mis käsitlevad tänapäeva kultuuripilti, - keelt -ja mõtet, piltide mitut nägu, poeetilisi ja arhitektuurilisi pilte.

Jaapani arhitekt Arata Isozaki ei näe hooneid mittelavate objektidena, vaid sündmustena, mis hõlmab sotsiaal- ja ajaloolist konteksti. Antud raamat käsitleb Jaapani arhitektuuri olemust alates 7-ndast kuni 20. sajandini. Sissejuhatuses analüüsib Isozaki Jaapani kaasaegsete arhitektide (kaasaarvatud ta enda) võitlusi luua midagi unikaalset ja modernset. Seejärel läheb ta ringiga tagasi minevikku, kus käsitleb 12. sajandi Todai-ji Templi ja 17. sajandi Katsura Imperial Villa rekonstrueerimist.
Ühendades ajaloolise ülevaate, kriitilise analüüsi, teoreetilised mõtisklused ja autobiograafilise loo, näitavad need esseed, mis on kirjutatud üle 20 aastase perioodi vältel, Isozakit kui üht väljapaistvamat arhitekti ja suurimat arhitektuurifilosoofi - mõtlejat.

Antud raamatus tutvustab autor, Juhani Pallasmaa, inimese käe imelist potentsiaali. Ta näitab, kuidas pliiats kunstniku või arhitekti käes muutub sillaks tajumeele ja areneva pildi vahel. Raamat käsitleb käe biloogilise evolutsiooni ja selle rolli kultuuri kujundamisel, rõhutades, kuidas käe kui tööriista koostöö silmade ja mõtlemisega on olulised osavuse arenguks ning kuidas lõpuks keha ja meeled mängivad olulist rolli mälus ja loomingulises töös. Isegi sellised intellektuaalsed tegevused nagu kirjutamine ja mõtlemine, olenevad vaimsete ja käeliste oskuste koostööst.

Ajakiri keskendub uute arenduste kirjeldustele, mida illustreerivad tehnilised joonised ja fotod.
Each issue of DETAIL is devoted to a specific constructional theme and provides a comprehensive treatment of the subject in the various sections of the journal. The main section is the »Documentation«, containing an analysis of selected projects, in which buildings from around the world are covered in depth. In addition to the aesthetic quality of the architecture, constructional details play a central role. All plan drawings are redrawn in-house true to scale and in consultation with the architects, planners and engineers responsible for the original design. This affords readers ready access to the projects and a swift means of comparison at a uniformly high level.
